Grave Matters, Lord Danvers Investigates #2

By Donna Fletcher Crow

Description:

Antonia discovers a body at the opening of the Great Exhibition, in the presence of Queen Victoria, no less. The newly married Lord and Lady Danvers put all such unpleasantness behind them, though, as they sail off in his aerostat for a secluded honeymoon in Scotland. Until the shades of grave robbers a generation earlier come back to haunt them.

"Grave Matters has everything I love in an historical novel: a compelling story peopled with interesting characters and vivid details drawn from impeccable research. From the bustling streets of London to the remote islands of the Hebrides, Victorian Britain comes to life, thanks to period dialogue that rings all the right notes and a mystery that keeps you guessing until the very last page. Delightful!"
~ Liz Curtis Higgs, New York Times best-selling author of Mine Is the Night

Book Takeaway:

The past is always with us, but God can redeem it.

Why the author wrote this book:

The Crystal Palace has always captivated my imagination I wanted to set a book there, or at least a scene. Because I love working with contrasts, the idea of a body being discovered in such elegant surroundings--in the presence of Queen Victoria herself was irresistible. I also love Scotland and working with the Burke and Hare murders was great fun.
