DEIRDRE, Fires of Gleannmara #3

By Linda Windsor

Description:

Saxon pirate prince, loyal to neither God nor country, is skeptical of his Christian mother’s predictions about his birthright...until he captures a devout princess with the key to both heavenly and earthly kingdoms. What his mother said about his true birthright seems possible after all, even when his newfound faith is battered by storms of betrayal that wash him and his half-drowned bride upon the seaswept shores of Gleannmara. Deirdre, the third heroine in the Fires of Gleannmara series, is an Irish princess wed to a heathen thief. Although she is a reluctant heroine, compassion becomes her shield, prayer her sword, and God’s Word her direction.

Book Takeaway:

Sometimes God has other plans than our own for us, plans to prosper us--even when it seems like we are surrounded. So we must not despair, but believe in the Word and its promises, for therein lies our hope.

Why the author wrote this book:

This is the third in the Gleannmara series portraying the seventh century, the last of the Golden Age of Ireland as portrayed in Thomas Cahill's nonfiction "How The Irish Saved Civilization." It is the backdrop for the continuing saga of the Niall family. With Irish roots myself, I wanted to tell Celtic Ireland's little known story and the blooming of Christianity there along with the fictional one of MAIRE, RIONA, and DEIRDRE's clan Niall.
