Why the author wrote this book:I was captured, at first, by the idea of a second chance at first love, and recapturing the joyful innocence of youth, but as the characters took hold, this book reached much deeper than that. This story is about re-finding faith, and hope, despite the crushing circumstance of a dangerous end-song to a marriage. It fascinated me to write a story about life being the great equalizer. In Hearts Surrender, Amy Maxwell was the girl most likely to succeed--she was popular and vivacious. Tyler, meanwhile was shy and quiet, but gifted with a soul meant for creating and performing Christian music. Life takes them down paths that reverse their roles completely. I love second chance stories--and embracing the idea that nothing, and no one, is outside of God's redemptive reach. |
