Treasure Tides

By Stephanie Guerrero

Description:

Gold assayer and telegraph operator Hank Chapel desires a wife and a companion, but in the perilous Gold Rush, finding gold is easy. Finding a godly woman is rare. While he is delivering a telegram to the Perle claim, tragedy strikes and Theo Perle ties his daughter’s future to the highest bidder of his claim until Hank steps in. In a town with no safety and no rooms for a woman alone, Hank must decide Ruby’s fate. Is she the answer to his prayers or a burden to protect?

Ruby Perle is at the mercy of a man when her pa sells the wealthy gold claim, signs her guardianship to the young telegraph operator who delivered the message and takes off to parts unknown. Under Alaska law, she must be twenty-one to be free, and even then, she needs a male guardian to conduct business. Though wealth can be picked up off the beach, her future feels bleak.

From Hank, Ruby experiences faithfulness and thoughtful acts for the first time. Faced with the choice of submitting control of her inheritance to a man or striking out on her own to retain legal management causes conflict in her soul. ‘You can’t have it all’ is a phrase she’s familiar with, but what if that statement is a lie?

What if a life lived by faith and mutual trust could make her dreams come true? To achieve the best outcome, both she and Hank must both yield to find happy-ever-after.

Book Takeaway:

No matter how dire your situation, God is the giver of all good things when we yield to Him, hope and love are born.

Why the author wrote this book:

My publisher asked for a book on a Gold Rush. I loved the idea of picking of gold nuggets off the beach in Nome, Alaska. In researching what rights Alaskan women maintained, I discovered a single woman of age had a good number of rights, but an underaged or married woman had almost none. Which brought me to the spiritual concept of trust in God as well as the true protection of a godly man. God requires both sides to yield to HIm. In doing so, true love can thrive.
