Painter Place

By Pamela Poole

Description:

"Many people dream of being artists. What if your family's future depended on it?

As her famous artist uncle's protégée, Caroline Painter is the first female and only eligible member of the Painter dynasty who can carry on the legacy of their small island in South Carolina. Twenty years old and fresh out of junior college in June of 1985, Caroline's parents ask her uncle to whisk her away from the island to film an art video. But instead of clearing her head, she becomes entangled in adventure in Mevaggisey on the English Channel when she influences a rock star's contract. The media chasing him launches her into fame. Returning home, she discovers a shattering secret about her inheritance that makes her question the personal cost of protecting a place that seems to own you.  Can she trust the only one who says he understands?

Set in the summer when the movie Back to the Future was released, Caroline must consider how her own decisions affect the future of Painter Place. The culture of the 1980's provides an exciting backdrop in this story about raising a generation who can be trusted to carry on as the torch is passed.

Book Takeaway:

Nothing is wasted. Everything a Christian does matters in God's economy. As we see in Genesis with Noah in his tent, even something bad we think we've done in private as "our own business" can affect the whole world.

Why the author wrote this book:

After I lamented the choices for Christian in the book market, my son challenged me to write the kind of book I wanted to read. I pulled out notes on a dream I had a few years before, prayed for direction, and Painter Place was the result.
