Their love is caught in the crossfire of the American Revolution.
Militia soldier Fergus Shaw wants only to defend his home and family from British invaders in the war-torn South. Forced to leave behind everything and everyone she’s ever loved, Melina must make a prudent marriage to protect her property. There’s no room in her plan for Fergus—but her heart longs for him all the same, creating a conflict that tests the boundaries of loyalty and devotion. Will Fergus and Melina’s love overcome the turmoil of war, or be lost in its wake?
Book Takeaway:
Patience will have its reward. Don't underestimate a citizen-soldier fighting to defend his home.
Why the author wrote this book:
I wanted to explore the little-known Southern Theatre of the Revolutionary War, and the tension between Continental and militia forces on the Patriot side, all of which I thought would make a terrific backdrop for a love story.
