Why the author wrote this book:

I loved showing the difference in power. Jake being a tough marine and Daria being a stern police sergeant as their strengths merged and they shared responsibilities as they dealt with a helpless baby. I also enjoyed showing the tough Jake learning how to care for a child and to think of her rather than his own needs.
