A Rebel SpyBy Anne GreeneDescription:Danger loving, madcap Sophie Garrett spies for her beloved Confederacy. Flirting her way through Union lines, she gains vital information for General Stonewall Jackson until she is suspected of passing secrets. She’s unable to hoodwink Yankee Major Brent Bartell. Even though his moral and ethical allegiance belong to the North, he so admires the rebel spy's courage and wit that he puts his own life on the line to protect her from prison and death. Book Takeaway:Joshua 1:8-9, one of my favorite verses. Why the author wrote this book:A woman spy to me is fascinating. And there are more than one spies in this book. Also the Civil War used many, many women, as spies. This was a first in US history. So lady spies were able to work more easily than men, and many of the southern lady spies worked in their own back yards. The north had their spies as well, but not many were women. I love the whole concept so wanted to write about the courage of women spies. |
