Why the author wrote this book:

The idea for "By the Banks of Cottonwood Creek" began when I heard about a young pastor who had just moved from a large city to rural North Dakota. I wondered what would that be like? So I started writing about his life. It turned out he had some tragedy in his background. He realized he couldn't be the pastor in this little community without the help of God. And right away he began meeting these quirky people.
