Starving Hearts - Will her search for love and acceptance replace the loss and hurt in her heart?

By Janine Mendenhall

Description:

Since her assault, Miss Annette Chetwynd has been plagued by nightmares and worries about an arranged marriage. But she yearns to find her anonymous rescuer. Unfortunately, her health and intellect prevent it. Both repel suitors and cause Annette to doubt God's existence, at least until He answers her prayers in an unusual way... Mr. Peter Adsley is joining the clergy, and he desires a godly wife by his side. After a failed attempt to obtain one, he engages in a clandestine meeting with the bewitching young woman who keeps crossing his path. But she is so unsettling. Destined for disappointments, Peter and Annette both endure disgraceful situations. Will Peter s faith sustain him through overwhelming setbacks? Can Annette overcome her doubts? Or will their starving hearts yield to the machinations of a mad man?

Book Takeaway:

Despite our worst fear, pain, and/or challenge, God is in control. Trust in His sovereignty and His plan because He loves us and uses everything for His glory and our good if we truly believe and yield our lives to Him.

Why the author wrote this book:

A nightmare and my three oldest children, who wanted to read the Twilight series when they were in middle school inspired me to write it.

As far as the nightmare goes, it was a scene from a slave trade ship caught in a hurricane, and it’s reflected in my hero, Mr. Peter Adsley, and his journey in Starving Hearts.

Where Twilight is concerned, I simply told my children that I had to read the books before they could. After I finished reading them, I thought if she can do it, then I certainly can-- with God’s help can-- please an audience and share the Light.
