In the midst of these heightening attacks, the general must leave for battle. Ismene fears that she is on her own.Evidence of a spy within her own household arises. It soon becomes apparent that one of these Egyptian rebels wants her dead. The safety of Ismene, and possibly the entire ruling class of Egypt, hangs in the balance.

Book Takeaway:

If we hold firm to what we know is true and right and noble, good and even love can grow from that.

Why the author wrote this book:

I am fascinated by this period in history - the Ptolemaic Period - in which Greek Pharaohs ruled over Egypt. This is also when the Bible was being translated into Greek in Egypt at the great Library of Alexandria. I found that also very interesting. I wondered, too, what it would be like for a woman to choose what is right over her heart. Would she discover that true love can overcome infatuation if she will hold firm to her convictions?
