Why the author wrote this book:

As a writing mentor with the Christian Writers Guild, I know the value of glimpsing an author's writing process -- how the characters came together in the author's mind, how the plot developed, etc. The goal was to combine this with an enjoyable reading experience. My friends who don't like science fiction tell me they like the Firebird books anyway!
