Wm. "Shane" Dean

Author Bio:

The earliest memories Wm. Shane Dean has of his childhood, was at the age of three, standing on a dock located on the Snake River which wound its way through the Hagerman Valley in Southern Idaho. He stood on that dock, hands hanging at his side, as he watched his brand new fishing pole swim up the river... Well at least he hooked a fish at the age of three.
In the fourth grade he read a book called "Sabre Jet Ace". It was about Mac McConnell, a Korean war triple ace fighter pilot. From that point on Shane had two goals in life. #1 To become a U.S. Air Force fighter pilot. #2 Was to actually hang on to his fishing pole when he caught a fish.
In 1974 Shane joined the U.S. Air Force and became a....Firefighter! (If you squint just right it looks like fighterpilot) Which in the end turned out to be way cooler that flying at supersonic speeds in a jet fighter. Plus, as Shane was often heard to say: "Chicks dig a guy with no eyebrows."
Thus began a twenty two year career as an Air Force firefighter. Six active duty and sixteen with the Idaho Air National Guard. During his stint as a firefighter Shane developed a great love for reading fiction. Zane Grey, Louis L'Amour, and Bill Clintons speech writer, just to name a few.
Shane retired in 1998 and went into commercial transportation. It was during this time that he began thinking about writing. The idea for "My Enemies Keeper" developed over untold miles, until, in 2004, he actually sat down at his wife's computer and asked. How do you turn it on?
When asked which character he identified with the most from "My Enemies Keeper" Shane replied "Kip Hansen. Because he is such a Goofball and my wife says the same of me. No, not really. Kip isn't a Believer, but he's not opposed to the faith either and I was a lot like that before giving my heart to Jesus. I liked God, but I didn't need Him. The rock band Esterlyn has a song "WE All Need" which is basically saying we all need Jesus. The not so subtle theme of "My Enemies Keeper" is about how Gods grace is sufficient.
Shanes parting words are "Enjoy the book. I'm going to go buy a new fishing pole.
