Author Bio:

I was christened a Methodist, was confirmed and immersed in a church that didn't preach the gospel, became a Christian in a Baptist church at the age of sixteen, and attended a cult for a while. I studied at Calvin College, where I accepted the biblical beliefs of the Reformed faith. Thus, I joined the Christian Reformed Church.

At Calvin, because of the required Greek major to enter seminary, I chose to leave God's clear call that beckoned me into the ministry. Instead, I was an English teacher with an English master's degree for eight years and then a sales manager for three years. In my last year of teaching, our second child, Keith, died from leukemia, a very traumatic event in our lives.

However, in no uncertain terms, God used Keith's death with several other events to re-direct our family of five. He guided me to be a student at Calvin Seminary and then a pastor in seven churches during twenty-seven years of ministry. Along the way, God made me a part-time outside editor for Kregel Books for a while.

Finally, God sent my wife and me into retirement for me to combine my three careers into another one, being a published author in both nonfiction (Bible studies) and fiction (a romantic, suspense, mystery novel).

Looking back, I can see that God prepared me to be an author even while I was running away from his call to the ministry, since English was the fourth major that I considered before I had to decide! Like Jonah in the Bible, I certainly wasn't asking for his guidance.

Now, you have the short, short version of my autobiography, which is all to God's credit!
