Why the author wrote this book:

I grew up in beautiful Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, a lovely getaway for both the rich and the not-so-rich. After the Great Chicago Fire, many of Chicago's wealthy built beautiful mansions on the lake shore for their families to live in while the city was rebuilt. And they never left. For years I yearned to write a story set in Lake Geneva, and when I learned that Summerside Press was looking for resort areas for the Love Finds You line, I submitted a proposal, and the rest is history.

I set my story in 1933 when the Great Depression had so strongly affected much of this country. That year, with WPA funds the people of Lake Geneva built a recreational building on the lakeshore that included a beautiful ballroom on the second floor. My characters work for the weekly newspaper, which in real life reported the progress of the new building as it was being built. Although my main characters, Meg Alden and Jack Wallace, are the main focus of the story, the Riviera, as the building is called, has a large role as well.

During the course of writing this story, I fell in love with my hometown all over again, and I hope my readers will also fall in love with this little slice of heaven on earth, and maybe even pay it a visit.
