Do You Know What I Know?By Becky MelbyDescription:
When a phone call from the obstetrician’s office goes to the wrong person . . . Book Takeaway:The overarching theme is remembering that the birth of Jesus is the reason for Christmas. In the words of my main character Jay: "Can't leave the manger empty." But this message comes through in the midst of a lot of miscommunication, assumptions and misunderstandings that create a sometimes funny, sometimes poignant story. Why the author wrote this book:This book is actually based on a true story. Back in 1973, the doctor bill for my pregnancy test went to my husband's aunt and uncle--who was also Becky Melby. But this Becky Melby was only 15! That story still comes up in our family. When I was brainstorming ideas for a Christmas novella, my husband asked if I could use that to spark a story line. From that came the idea of a phone call with pregnancy test results going to the wrong person. |
