OffsidesBy Lori Z. ScottDescription:
Dani Stevens knew her senior year would be challenging—with her last season on the soccer team, a strained friendship, and a new crush. But she didn’t expect uncover a human trafficking ring in her town. Book Takeaway:1. Human trafficking awareness 2. Hope 3. Faith 4. The importance of family and friends Why the author wrote this book:When the idea of addressing the heavy topic of human trafficking in a story geared for the very people who are often targeted by predators came my way, I said no. No way did I want to write about something so insidious, especially when I typically write humor. But God kept at me, and I finally accepted the challenge. And I'm so glad I did. The resulting book--a blend of humor and poignant honesty-- raises awareness but also brings hope and encouragement. Beyond the broader picture of human trafficking, the story zeros in on the importance of connection with family and friends. It is my desire to donate a portion of the proceeds to support a local Christian ministry that helps victims of human trafficking. |
