All the Days of My Life

By Jo-Anne Berthelsen

Description:

Heléna arrives in Australia after a long sea voyage, and is sent to a migrant camp at Bathurst, where she is told there is no chance of pursuing her music career in her new country. She begins work in a factory in Brisbane, but eventually moves to Sydney, where new friends help her to pursue her dreams. In the years that follow, Heléna experiences great joy but also deep trials. Can she hold onto her faith in God, come to terms with her own past and move on?

Book Takeaway:

Hopefully, as in 'Helena',encouragement for my readers to continue to hold onto their faith in God, whatever is happening in their lives and to look to him for strength, comfort and guidance. Also a greater appreciation for the plight of refugees, both post World War Two and present day.

Why the author wrote this book:

This book is the sequel to my first novel 'Helena', as well as a 'stand alone' novel in its own right. I wanted to continue Helena's story, which had been left up in the air at the end of my first novel 'Helena', as she boarded the boat heading to her new life in Australia, and not leave my readers 'dangling'. I wanted to write about the courage and faith she continued to show throughout the difficulties awaiting her in her new life and how the fact that God had brought her through so much in her own homeland strengthened and prepared her for what lay ahead.
