Why the author wrote this book:

I was invited by the Granbury Writers Bloc to submit a short story for their writers' group contest. My short story won a spot in their anthology. It is based on research I did for my California Trail Discoveries novel, but I wrote it from a point of view that I didn't use in the book. I use the story as a give-away for different publicity events.
