Dial P for Perfect: Sweet Christian Contemporary Romance Novella (You Are on the Air, Book 11)

By Heidi Gray McGill

Description:

Ginger loves her life. She’s developed a successful business, has a precious cat named Snickers, and worships with a church family that encourages her to grow spiritually.

Everything should be fine, but it isn’t. Ginger hides her deep frustration with a self-deprecating attitude and sassy remarks. Snarkiness has become her default response to life and it isn’t serving her well.

Ginger admits she’s plus-sized, but that doesn’t mean she’s unattractive. She needs a guy who doesn’t mind a curvy girl. Finding the occasional date isn’t easy in a small town, but her friends seem to enjoy the challenge of setting her up.

Enter the newest addition to the young adult small group. Ginger’s friends think he’d be perfect for her, but he’s not her type. His lack of style is nothing like her flare for fashion, and his quiet demeanor and nerdiness directly oppose her extroverted personality. He’s polite and doesn’t make her feel like her weight is an issue, but there are no sparks.

Ginger wants more for her future than a guy who accepts her despite her flaws. Is asking for a guy who thinks she is beautiful and perfect too much? But, then again, shouldn’t Ginger look at herself as perfect? After all, that’s the way God sees her, and He loves her just as she is.

It’s time for Ginger to learn she’s curvy by design, not by default.

Book Takeaway:

Why the author wrote this book:

My research for Dial P for Perfect came from deep within. I've always considered myself on the heavier side of the scale. Being measured for a costume for Brigadoon as a High School Junior was traumatic. The moms that volunteered that day smiled at me with their pearly whites and a "Bless your heart" on their lips. They may not have said the words, but I heard them in my mind. I felt "less than," or bigger than, as the case may be.

Identifying with Ginger in Dial P for Perfect was easy for me, and I felt her pains and triumphs, her fears, and her confusion. No matter what size you are, I think we can all relate since there is a bit of Ginger in each of us. It is natural for us to struggle to see our beauty.

Writing this story reminded me that God does not look at our outward appearance.
