Facing the DawnBy Cynthia RuchtiDescription:
While her humanitarian husband Liam has been digging wells in Africa, Mara Jacobs has been struggling. She knows she's supposed to feel a warm glow that her husband is nine time zones away, caring for widows and orphans. But the reality is that she is exhausted, working a demanding yet unrewarding job, trying to manage their three detention-prone kids, failing at her to-repair list, and fading like a garment left too long in the sun. Book Takeaway:Readers will close the final pages with the assurance that they are never alone or unloved, no matter how dire their circumstances or how raw their pain. Awards:
Why the author wrote this book:I wanted to explore at least thoughts that many of us will face in life--loss/grief and the power of forever friends. Few of us will escape the ache of deep loss. How do we survive? How do we keep going? We can read books that walk us through a step by step process, or we can come alongside characters in a novel and journey with them not in theory but as it looks in real life. Another tough topic I hope readers will believe is handled tenderly enough for their own pain. |
