By Carrie Fancett Pagels, Kathleen L. Maher, Rita Gerlach, Susanne Dietze

Description:

Step back into the classroom alongside four new teachers who face unexpected tests. In 1840 New York, Gilda’s religious beliefs are challenged. In 1870 Kansas, Mary helps ostracized immigrant children. In 1894 Michigan, Jesse discovers an unlikely friendship. And in 1904 Virginia, Margaret wants to make controversial changes. Will these tests teach the teachers about faith and love?

Book Takeaway:

God restores his people, sometimes in ways they never imagined and in places they never expected to live.

Why the author wrote this book:

I have lived on Mackinac Island and worked there and have other stories set in the Straits of Mackinac. I've also lived in South Carolina and came through Hurricane Hugo. My story is about a young woman, a dray driver who was inspired by a real-life dray driver I met while visiting the island. There was an economic depression during the time of this story and my hero and heroine were both greatly impacted by this. This story is about overcoming difficult times and finding love someplace where you'd not expect it to happen.
