Why the author wrote this book:

I became fascinated with the idea of buried treasure in the Rocky Mountains and the question of what would someone do to find the treasure. I knew I wanted to incorporate a sheriff's mounted patrol into the story and that I wanted characters to root for. Once I populated my fictional town I was off and running. The story developed easily and was fun to write.
