Why the author wrote this book:

It's actually a sequel to my first novel, The Unfinished Gift. I didn't write the first book intending to write a sequel. But after finishing it, I realized, I wasn't ready to leave these characters just yet and, it had become clear, there was at least one more story that had to be told. The Unfinished Gift is a story of forgiveness and reconciliation. The Homecoming is a love story. But one that will have to face almost impossible obstacles to find its way to the surface and survive. Now that it's done, I can't see how these character's lives would have been complete without it.
