Reluctant To Wed

By Anneliese Dalaba

Description:

Emma, an American, and Devon, the Earl of Devonport, are strangers compelled to wed by the machinations of family members. To keep her family from losing their farm, Emma agrees to an arranged marriage. Devon understands his obligation to his title and to his father. He has no choice but to take Emma as his wife. While her heart longs to be loved, his longs for freedom. When they meet, sparks fly. Each must make an effort to understand the other. Faith in God gives Emma hope when the path to love is not an easy one.

Book Takeaway:

When each partner in a marriage puts God first and seeks to obey Him and draw near to Him, they will of necessity draw near to each other as well.

Why the author wrote this book:

I've always loved reading novels that took place in England in the early 1800s. I've read hundreds of them. They were clean books, but not necessarily always Christian. I wanted to write a Christian book in this time period. I also love novels where marriage comes before love and the couples has to find a way to make the marriage work, each of them changing and growing in the process. This is the kind of book I wanted to write.
