Why the author wrote this book:

Elaine and I kept seeing odd shoes, boots, shirts along the roadside and got to asking ourselves how those items came to be on the side of the road. Those questions led to the 'what if' question about a man struck by a passing car and left for dead waking up to find he can't remember his past.
