Why the author wrote this book:

My love of the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina inspired me to write a story set it a quaint town among its hills and valleys. A central element in the book is the small cottage that Livy (heroine) vows to fix up and restore to its original charm. This cottage is based on my own childhood memories of my great grandmother's house. Thematically, I wanted to share with readers an example of how true love can come after heartbreak, disappointment, and bitterness. God's grace restores us just the same as Livy and Jack restore the cottage. Hope comes from this grace.
