Upon her fiancé's death, Laney became a recluse who only left her home for emergencies. She managed to survive - barely - on food delivery service and her work-at-home job. Why the author wrote this book:

I thought it would be fun to show how language can be a real problem when people speak in cliches. I also wanted to show how faith in God can help a fearful person learn to trust again despite their negative past experiences.
