Why the author wrote this book:

While traveling through the South I became fascinated with the birth of the blues in rural Mississippi. I followed the "Blues Trail" to Beale Street in the heart of Memphis, a city which has enjoyed a fabulous rebirth in the last forty years. I decided to craft a story about a talented musician trying to put his faith into action in the after-hours clubs of the inner city.
