Jet-lagged after the long flight from the States, Libby trips over her sister’s suitcase and stumbles into a mystery. Someone is trying to ruin Mr. MacLeod and his Edinburgh bakery. But who? And why? Libby and Philippa, a neighborhood girl with a flair for the dramatic, decide to investigate. Sleuthing turns out to be edge-of-your-seat exciting, but it has its’ downside—false leads and embarrassing setbacks. Sleuthing, Libby discovers, can also be dangerous . . . Book Takeaway:God wants us choose friends wisely. Why the author wrote this book:On my first trip to Edinburgh I stayed in a wonderful, top-of-the-house, room. I kept thinking a young girl would love it. I then wondered what it would be like to move to a different country and try to make friends. What would be the challenges? It occurred to me (I had, once upon a time, taught seventh grade) that many children experience similar challenges when they enter middle school or high school. It is after all, for them a new country. |
