Why the author wrote this book:I always wanted to write a book set in Weedpatch, where I grew up. Since Weedpatch pretty much became a recognizable splotch in history during the Depression, I also wanted to include that, somehow. When I actually got started writing, I realized it wasn't going to be easy to separate the reality of WEEDPATCH with the fictional premise of my storyline...but God gave me the strength and fortitude. :) |
