StardustBy Carla StewartDescription:
Shortly after burying her unfaithful husband, Georgia Peyton unexpectedly inherits the derelict Stardust motel from a distant relative. Despite doubts from the community and the aunt who raised her, she is determined to breathe new life into it. But the guests who arrive aren't what Georgia expects: Her gin-loving mother-in-law; her dead husband's mistress; an attractive but down-on-his-luck drifter who's tired of the endless road; and an aging Vaudeville entertainer with a disturbing link to Georgia's past. Book Takeaway:Sacrificing our own desires for the good of others leads to loving and forgiving those who’ve betrayed us. Awards:
Why the author wrote this book:Pieces of the past intrigue me so I wanted to combine a few of those elements into a story about betrayal. I chose the Stardust cottages as I remembered seeing those as a child when I traveled with my family. I also had two relatives who bore the life-long effects of polio. People have forgotten what a dreaded and terrible disease it was so I chose it for the backdrop. The setting is a nod to a very special part of Texas where my husband and I celebrated our anniversary a couple of years ago. |
