Why the author wrote this book:There's so little interest in Lyme disease. I almost didn't write this book. As a Lyme disease victim, when I first learned of the promising new treatments I thought of re-writing Barely above Water to include them. Then, I recalled the lack of interest in the disease and decided against it. However, I ended up talking to physician who told me no one ever mentioned Lyme disease in any of her classes in med school. After that, I ran into another medical professional who had received incorrect information about Lyme disease. I decided the facts about Lyme disease, including promising new ones, need to be shared. |
