Why the author wrote this book:

I love studying the histories of Colonial America, especially surrounding the French and Indian War and the American Revolution. I wrote this during the two years leading up to America's 250th anniversary, as a way to bring to light a lesser-known piece of the war and the plight of settlers on the fringes of the frontier.
