Interview with Blossom Turner 2025

When did you feel called to become an author?

Becoming an author was a late-in-life surprise. I’ve always had a vivid imagination, journaled, and written constantly—whether for work or personal reflection. I even wrote a weekly newspaper column on health and fitness. But I never imagined I had novels inside me until much later.

What did you learn while writing this book?

This series revolves around spiritual warfare—the kind that impacts all of us daily. To make it as biblically accurate as possible, I spent a lot of time studying Scripture. It deepened my understanding and made me even more aware of the unseen battles happening around us.

What is the toughest part of writing in your genre?

This series, The Victory Series, found me. My background is in historical romance—I had built a following, won awards, and loved what I was doing. But as I wrapped up my last series, the Holy Spirit made it clear that everything I had written before was preparing me for this story. Mara would be my next project.

Drawing from my own experiences—childhood abuse and a marriage under fire—I wove fiction with real-life truths to reveal the spiritual battles at play. The hardest part? Writing from such a deep, personal place. Even though I’m healed, revisiting those memories had the potential to reopen old wounds. But God knew what He was doing—it made for powerful storytelling.

If someone were to look at your Google search history (all for research, of course!), what would they find?

Honestly, my Bible got the most attention during research! But I did turn to Google for details I wasn’t familiar with—like the Bay Area (since I didn’t grow up there), bear attacks and reconstructive surgeries, the Lost Coast Trail (for book two), and the Mexican cartel (for book three).

If you could have coffee with an author, dead or alive, whose work you admire, who would it be? What would you ask?

That’s a tough one! C.S. Lewis would be my top pick from the past, and Francine Rivers from today. I’d ask them both the same question: How did your writing change once you became a child of God?

What’s your go-to drink while writing?

Bengal Spice Celestial Herbal Tea. Honestly, I should own stock in that company for how much I drink!

If you could give your younger self one piece of advice, what would it be?

Go to university—find a way, no matter what it takes. I came from an extremely poor background, and post-secondary education wasn’t an option. But knowing now what God has placed within me, I wish I had pursued a degree in creative writing. That would have been the dream.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not writing?

Gardening, walking my dog, and having long conversations with my husband.

What books are on your TBR pile right now?

I’m currently reading Shattered Sanctuary by Nancy Mehl.

Next up: Celebrity Pastor by Creston Mapes and The Brothers of Sapphire Mountain Series by Misty M. Beller.

What can we look forward to next?

Book Three—Maranatha: The Victory Battle—releases July 22, 2025! This final book in The Victory Series follows Mara’s journey from infancy through adulthood, showing all the ways the enemy tries to come against us. But in the end, the battle belongs to the Lord. My hope is that this story encourages every believer to see beyond what the natural eye perceives—because there’s so much more happening in the spiritual realm…so says the word of God.
