Raised in Connecticut, Carolyn Torbett-Johnson has worked with children for almost fifty years. She resides in western Oklahoma with her pastor husband and two spoiled schnauzers. She presently teaches kid's church and leads a vibrant youth group. Great loves of her life include gardening, reading and making quilts for the Quilts of Valor organization.

The Promise

Hungry and alone. Twelve-year-old Jack and ten-year-old Leah are on their own, living on the filthy streets of New York City in 1908. Unable to find work, they are facing starvation.
