The Masterpiece Beneath

By Lisa Buffaloe

Description:

For decades, Veronika’s past stayed hidden. Yet the repercussions of what was done to her and what she had done continued to ripple through time.

As her secrets come to light, will they destroy those she loves or reveal God’s masterpiece beneath?

Book Takeaway:

Your life canvas may have been smeared with dirt and grime, and others may have used and abused you, but God’s masterpiece remains untouched. No matter what you have gone through in your life, no matter what is happening now, God’s love can weave a golden bond of restoration and redemption within you. Jesus holds out His nail-scarred hands and beckons you. In Matthew 11:28, Jesus said “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

Someday, we will all see the God-created masterpiece beneath.

Why the author wrote this book:

I started writing this book in 2011 as a sweet romance between Emily and Brandon, yet the grandmother kept coming to mind, and I wondered about her backstory.

As God unfolded her past, I at first balked at the idea of dealing with such a hard and sad subject. Yet, those difficulties are real for many people. Terrible things happen and evil exists, which often causes a chain reaction of heartache and pain.

Our Savior Jesus Christ understands suffering. He was ostracized, falsely accused, mocked, beaten, and yet willingly sacrificed Himself in our place for our sins. He tenderly reaches out to those who are lost, forgiving the sinner and offering new life.
God is a good God. Even though evil abounds in our world, what is done in the darkness will come to light, and evil will be judged. I’ve had my share of difficulties, and even though my attackers have not experienced human judgment, God has redeemed what the enemy has stolen from me. God will righteously judge those who have done wrong. St. Augustine wrote, “In my deepest wound, I saw Your glory, and it dazzled me.”
God weeps with us during hardships. He is near to the brokenhearted. He binds up our wounds and saves those who are crushed in spirit. He releases the captives and sets free the prisoners, for He is the God of all comfort. (See Psalm 34:18, Psalm 147:3, Isaiah 61:1-2, and 2 Corinthians 1:3.)
