Why the author wrote this book:

One Christmas, my daughter wanted a chihuahua. While doing research on the breed, I learned that the chihuahua was a sacred temple dog to the ancient Mayans. I became intrigued. Soon afterwards, we visited Tulum, one of the settings for "Kichi in Jungle Jeopardy" and a historical fantasy was born.
