A Conspiracy of Breath

By Latayne C. Scott

Description:

TSU Press is proud to announce its first fiction offering, A Conspiracy of Breath, by Latayne C. Scott. It is a literary historical, based on an outrageous—but scholar-supported—theory.
Did a woman write the biblical Epistle to the Hebrews? This book supposes that was the case.
Pre-publication reviews (included in manuscript) from academics and award-winning writers have been extraordinary: “mind-searing imagery,” “a rare virtuoso narrative,” “fabulous prose,” “timeless, soul-stirring,” “exquisite writing,” “heart-stopping,” “a sophisticated read,” and “a masterpiece.”
Author Latayne C. Scott is the recipient of Pepperdine University’s “Distinguished Christian Service” award for her writing, and has written more than 20 books, published by Zondervan (Harper Collins), Baker, Word, Howard (Simon & Schuster), and TSU Press and others.

Book Takeaway:

What would it have been like to be a woman, a Gentile, and someone onto whom the Holy Breath moved - to produce what became the mysterious Epistle to the Hebrews in the Bible?

Awards:

Year Title Description
1999 Distinguished Christian Service Award, Pepperdine University "For Creative Christian Writing"

Why the author wrote this book:

Once I read of the scholarly theories that Priscilla may have written the Epistle to the Hebrews, I had a sudden searing image of her walking with a cart, carrying something. My attempt was to write a book of literary quality that explored that theory and that image.
