Seasons in the Mist

By Deborah Kinnard

Description:

Mix together one overeager historian, a well-hidden time portal, a sympathetic knight, a wrong that must be corrected, and five months of English fog—an exciting brew for anyone’s cauldron.

All Bethany Lindstrom wants is fame, renown, and a satisfying career as a historian—so badly that she’s let her Christian walk slide into forgetfulness. Her dreams come first—after scads of academic recognition, a scintillating dissertation, and a killer reputation, she can always deal with secondary stuff later. Right? She lays her plans carefully for the next step up the career ladder. On a trip to the U.K. to work on a dig at Oxford, her schemes mix up into a very strange brew. Add one missing taxi, one enigmatic acquaintance, and one unplanned trip to Cornwall, and she’s whisked away to an ancient home in the southwest corner of England.

She can stay only long enough to deal with the logistics of her trip to Oxford. But during a guided tour of the stately home, she hears a tale of a sorrowful ghost who haunts the older portion of the house. She can’t resist waking up early the next morning to wander the old buildings in search of history. And finds it, around a crumbling corner that hides an unseen portal back in time…

Why the author wrote this book:

Because I saw Cornwall and after that I wanted to evoke the sense of power and time that lingers there.
