Silver Lining (Mail-order Bride) (Volume 1)

By Mildred Colvin

Description:

Abducted by white slavers. Danya Morrison escapes, but fearing to return to her boarding house, she answers an ad in a discarded newspaper and leaves New York City for the plains of Kansas. Surely even marriage to a man she’s never met would be better than the danger awaiting her in the city. Matthew Turner hasn’t told his family and friends what happened to him three years ago. They don’t tell him they’ve ordered him a mail-order bride until she arrives without warning. Matt might not object to their surprise except one of the things he hasn’t mentioned is enough to keep him from ever finding happiness in marriage. He can’t marry Danya, and she can’t go back. Maybe God has a plan even when their problems seem beyond solving.

Book Takeaway:

Many times we go through patches of hardship, I hope not as frightening as a kidnapping and traveling to a place where we aren't expected, but still discomfort, fear, and uncertainty batter us. God often allows this to strengthen us, but He never leaves us alone. So many scriptures point to the silver lining waiting behind the clouds in our lives. Proverbs 3:6 says,In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.

Why the author wrote this book:

I love mail-order bride stories and read a true account of a girl who was abducted in much the same way as Danya was. While I was reading, the idea for Silver Lining grew. I hope to soon add more stories to this series.
