Why the author wrote this book:

I started out knowing I wanted to write a story set in my husband's hometown, a small town in central Pennsylvania. When I began researching to find a story I wanted to tell, I discovered the history of the Huntingdon Home for Orphan and Friendless Children and fell in love with it.
