Will Jessamine be able to survive the storms of the world? Or will she retreat back to the peace of Harmony Hill? The thousands of loyal fans of Gabhart's Shaker novels will love this entrancing story of learning to trust the gifts God gives us and let him guide us through life.

Book Takeaway:

The Lord blesses those who reach for him, whatever their circumstances. It was my hope that the story would encourage others to appreciate the diversity of their own gifts and see how those gifts could be a blessing to themselves and others.

Why the author wrote this book:

I wanted to contrast the simple life of the Shakers with the more elaborate social life of the springs hotels in the 1850s. I wanted a character who had an innocent spirit who had been raised by the Shakers, but who also had an insatiable curiosity about the world outside the Shaker village. Jessamine was that character.
