Captured by Moonlight (Book 2 in the series Twilight of the British Raj)

By Christine Lindsay

Description:

Prisoners to their own broken dreams…

After a daring rescue goes awry, Laine Harkness and her friend Eshana flee to the tropical south of India…and headlong into their respective pasts.
Laine takes a nursing position at a plantation in the jungle, only to discover that her former fiancé is the owner…but fun-loving Laine refuses to let Adam crush her heart like he had years ago.

Eshana, captured by her traditional uncle and forced once more into the harsh Hindu customs of mourning, doubts freedom will ever be hers again, much less the forbidden love for Dr. Jai Kaur that had begun to flower.

Amid cyclones, epidemics, and clashing faiths, will the love of the True Master give hope to these searching hearts?

Book Takeaway:

That God can use our broken hearts, by turning them into inspiration for new work and new adventures for Him.

Why the author wrote this book:

I had always wanted to write a series on the final decades of Britain's colonial rule of India. Those days were as exciting to British people as the Wild West is to the Americas.

The British Raj was a time of great courage, injustice, the richness of palaces, the poverty of Indian slums. A time of contrasts, and an excellent era to show how God worked in His people during times of great suffering.

My books are always multi-layered. So while there is the bigger historical story, there is always the story of men and women, wounded from their pasts, and finding redemption, hope, and healing throught a relationship with Christ.

Besides, I had to write this sequel to Shadowed in Silk. The two characters, Eshana and Nursing Matron Laine Harkness were so spunky, they insisted I tell their story.

Reviews

"Christine displays her Christian faith as she writes about characters who find the living and true God, the Lord Jesus Christ in a predominately Muslim and Hindu country."
