Why the author wrote this book:It was inspired by a photograph which gave me the character of Popsie, an 80 year old man who lives on his boat. I also wanted to create a moment in contemporary fiction that mirrored the moment in scripture where Joseph stands before his brothers, unknown, and needs to make a choice: forgiveness or revenge. I embedded this moment in the story, but it's not obvious. |
