Path of Freedom

By Jennifer Hudson Taylor

Description:

1850 - When Quakers Flora Saferight and Bruce Millikan embark on the Underground Railroad, they agree to put their differences aside to save the lives of a pregnant slave couple. With only her mother’s quilt as a secret guide, the foursome follows the stitches through unknown treachery.

As they begin their perilous journey, they hope and pray that their path is one of promise where love sustains them, courage builds faith, and forgiveness leads to freedom.

Book Takeaway:

Don't be so quick to judge others. Take the time to get to know them and discover why they might be the way they are--and forgive them.

Why the author wrote this book:

My mother's family were Quakers and part of the Centre Friends Meeting Church in Greensboro, NC. I've always been fascinated by the Underground Railroad and the idea of using quilts as a map or guide--even though there is no historical fact to prove it.
