Harvest of RubiesBy Tessa AfsharDescription:
The prophet Nehemiah's cousin can speak several languages, keep complex accounts, write on tablets of clay, and solve mysteries. Her accomplishments catapult her into the center of the Persian court—working long hours, rubbing elbows with royalty, and becoming the queen’s favorite scribe. Book Takeaway:Relationships are more important than achievements. God's love is ever near, even when we choose to wander far from Him - even when the painful circumstances of life tempt us to believe He has abandoned us. Awards:
Why the author wrote this book:In spite of the fact that Sarah lives in the ancient world, I think many modern women can relate to her desire to find her worth in her accomplishments, or in how other people perceive her. But how does God view her? I think each of us needs to ask that question on a daily basis, because too often, like Sarah, our conclusions are faulty. |
