Why the author wrote this book:

I attended college in Historic Annapolis and fell in love with its Old World charm. So when I began contemplating a historical romance about a young woman who flees her betrothed, I decided it would be oh-so-much fun to have Annapolis be the place that offered her sanctuary . . . just as monumental events unfolded there, like George Washington's resignation from the army and the signing of the Treaty of Paris two weeks later, officially ending the Revolution.
