Callie's Redemption

By Tammie Edington Shaw

Description:

Callie Linden would just as soon Uncle Cec had shot her with his six-shooter than give her the news he blurted out between sobs: “Your Aunt Betsy had a stroke and has passed on, and I’m leavin’ town.” Callie just stepped off a stagecoach that brought her from Wheeling, Virginia to Sweet Valley, Indiana. Going from a life of luxury to being an orphan and penniless has driven her to seek a home with her aunt and uncle, whom she has never met.

Josh Clarke was on the same stagecoach as Callie, traveling back to his hometown in Sweet Valley. He left for the love of a young woman, with a hope he would be able to fulfill his calling to be a preacher, but it didn’t materialize. Now he feels like a failure.

Book Takeaway:

God wants us to find love with another, but not at the expense of losing our relationship with Him.

Why the author wrote this book:

I wrote this book because I love stories of the westward movement in our country. I wondered if two people from diverse parts of the country could mesh. I also wondered how a girl who really didn’t know the Savior could come to know God in a faraway land from her home and through seeing Him in a young man who pursued God’s call to preach.
