Stronger than Shifting Sands

By Barbara Blythe

Description:

America has entered the 20th century - the world is changing, and Kimball Delacroix is ready for change. She doesn’t want her parents’ restrictive society life. She wants to leave her mark on the world and make good use of her engineering degree by building Henry Flagler’s railroad to Key West, Florida.

Logan Stillwater, a native Floridian with Seminole blood, has that same objective hoping for promotion to crew supervisor of the Seven-Mile Bridge construction project. But when a woman fills the position, he’s forced to rethink his beliefs and values. He can’t ignore his feisty boss or pretend she’s “one of the guys,” but when leadership is questioned and danger comes from nature and vengeful employees, Kimball and Logan are faced with a choice. Is it to be love or career as they navigate the shifting sands?

Book Takeaway:

A person's worth should be measured by God's standards, not man's.

Why the author wrote this book:

My family and I have always loved Florida. And I've always been fascinated by the Florida Keys and Flagler's construction of a railroad to Key West. It seemed a natural fit to place the protagonists in the middle of the building of the railroad and how they coped with Nature's surprises, falling in love, and battling for recognition within the Flagler organization.
